Samsung Galaxy S4 Adapts Nokia Lumia 920’s Wireless Charging Feature?
A new rumour claimed that Samsung Galaxy S4 will equip the device with wireless charging feature like that of Nokia Lumia 920.
According to a report from Korean publication DDaily, the Galaxy S4 will feature wireless charging using the familiar Qi standard such as the Nokia Lumia 920 on AT&T.
Samsung thought about using different wireless charging for the Galaxy S4, specifically, resonant magnetic coupling. If it used that technology, the Galaxy S4 may have been able to charge at up to two meters.
This particular technology is something that we heard rumoured for the Galaxy S3 prior to its launch last year but it was something that never ended up materializing. It appears that that will be the case with the Galaxy S4 as well as Samsung reportedly can't get it up to consumer-grade.
If this is the case, Samsung will apparently offer wireless charging with the Galaxy S4 but it will not be included in the package. Customers who wish to have the feature will need to buy a back plate for the device along with a wireless charger. Neither will be bundled and it appears that a price for both remains undetermined.
Last year, the Samsung Galaxy S3 was supposed to receive something similar but Samsung has yet to release any sort of official wireless charging kit for the aging device.
Some of the rumoured specifications for the Galaxy S4 include a 5-inch FHD sAMOLED 1980 x 1080 Flexible Display, 4G LTE connectivity, Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie, a 13-megapixel camera, and Samsung's latest processor, the Exynos 5 Octa that the company introduced at CES.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is pegged for release on either the second or third quarter of the year as it is planning for a head start over its rival. Samsung revealed that the much awaited smartphone will be released post May of this year.
However, Samsung released no official comment yet on the rumours surrounding its upcoming devices.
