New rumors on the successor of Samsung's best-selling phone - Galaxy S3 emerged claiming that the fourth generation of the handset will sport a tough screen display.

As 2012 comes to a close, mobile manufacturers are already prepping up for the devices that they will unveil next year. Samsung is slated to release the follow-up on its popular Samsung Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S4 is said to sport a touchscreen made from plastic substrate, which is highly resistant to scratches and cracks when dropped.

According to Reuters, the screen display of the Galaxy S4 may be unbreakable that may give the device an edge over its competitors. The report says that glass displays are too fragile. Since OLDED screens can be covered by both glass and tough plastic substrate, the Korean firm has opted to use the tough material.

Other reports claimed that Samsung will be using this flexible display on their upcoming smartphones. The Korean firm has been working on flexible displays. Some reports said that Samsung will use the technology in other smartphones but not the Galaxy S4.

Today's touchscreens are covered in a super slim but ultra-tough film of Corning Gorilla Glass. This touch glass covering protects your blower from the usual scratches and bumps. Videos have even shown the tough glass withstanding abuse from a hammer and nail.

However, not even Corning Gorilla Glass can protect the screen when dropped from a great height. If the Samsung Galaxy S4 can withstand drops from great distances, the phone will surely be a hit.

It is speculated that Korea's tech giant will lift the lid off the new smartphone mid next year, most probably around April or May. This is just right to maximize the profits for Samsung Galaxy S3.

It was previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will sport a 5-inch full HD display with full 1080p and a whopping 440 pixels per inch. The device will be powered by two quad core chips.

The Galaxy S4 might also sport a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, which will intimate other smartphones with 8MP back shooters.

The handset should come with a minimum of 2GB RAM, although there are reports that Samsung is testing an unidentified smartphone with 3GB RAM.

Samsung also began mass producing 128GB memory chips for smartphones and tablets earlier this year, and we could see storage capacities that high as early as next year. With this, the Samsung will continue its reign in producing devices with large storage capacity.

However, Samsung kept mum on the rumors surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4. There is no official comment from the South Korea's tech giant.
