Samsung's 2013 flagship, the Galaxy S4, is still on its second quarter and yet the Galaxy S5 chatter seems to be gaining enough steam that partial specs of the 2014 S series Android smartphone are already leaking out.

Reports from South Korea's Electronic Times News, picked up by BGR, indicate that preliminary works have started for the GS5, which should be out by Q1 2014 or around the same time that the GS4 debuted in March 2013.

To headline its powerful software and hardware features is an impressive 16MP shooter that is packed with an optical image stabilisation module (OIS), set for perfection by December 2013 en route to volume production and mass deployment in the following year, the same report said.

It appears too that OIS was originally meant to be seen first via the Galaxy Note 3 release date this year but Samsung was forced to put off the plan due to production challenges.

"However, the OIS AF (auto focus) production capacity of Korean companies will be greatly increased early next year," the Korean publication was quoted by BGR as saying, hinting too that the GS5 rollout should happen as scheduled.

Concepts of the GS5 started coming out in the past few months, all pointing to a handset that is increasingly phablet-size or beyond the 5-inch screen size seen in the GS4. The components, of course, adhere to 2014 gadget standard - 8-core CPU, 4GB of RAM and a screen technology that works in tandem with the processing chips to deliver punch and power efficiency at the same time.

To match these impressive inner attributes is a massive battery pack that likely exceeds that of the GS4's and the soon-to-be released Note 3.

Another render envisions the GS5 as equally gorgeous and ruggedly sexy, able to withstand liquid and other elements intrusions as it is beautifully wrapped in a fusion of sturdy glass cover on front and a robust back and edge coverings.

The GS5 is filling in a big shoe as the GS4 is credited to have headlined Samsung's biggest result yet in the second quarter of 2013, selling more than 23 million units from April through the end of June this year and handily beating Apple's iPhone 5 in the process.

If Samsung sticks to its production and rollout calendars, the Galaxy S5 should get an April 2014 release date and a March introduction via the South Korean tech giant's Unpacked event, setting the stage for a fierce skirmish with Apple's rumoured phablet - the iPhone 6.
