The Samsung Galaxy S5 has been making waves with some sources claiming that it may be the most powerful smartphone around once release. Recent reports suggest that the Galaxy S5 will be leaving its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the dust. This is saying a lot given Samsung Galaxy S4 is considered to be one of the most powerful of its kind to date. What does Samsung Galaxy S5 deliver? Will it really surpass the S4 in terms of power and overall functionality?

It is easy to say that refreshed versions of tech products should be an improved version of their predecessor. However in tech, there are instances that newer versions do not mean better performance and functionality. Companies have a tendency to try out new and different features which may not work out altogether. Analysts think it different for the Samsung Galaxy S5. Based on recent information including leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be a powerful device.

According to reports, Samsung plans on announcing the device during the Mobile World Congress in February. The actual release of the product will be around mid March or April similar to the timeline of the Galaxy S4. The new flagship phone will launch simultaneously with Samsung Galaxy Gear 2.

So far, reports say that Samsung Galaxy S5 will feature QHD 2K display and a Quad HD 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED display. Give the display, the device will be the first of Samsung's product to feature a different resolution from its previous offerings. The S5 will also reportedly run on a Snapdragon 805 processor or Exynos 6 octa-core 64-bit. This will vary per region. Other reported features include Android 4.4 KitKat, 16-megapizel camera which may feature an ISOCELL technology.

Other information about the new flagship device from Samsung still remains disputed. There are sources saying that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will come out in two variants: one in metal and one in plastic. Samsung wants to target both the high end and low end market with its next smartphone offering. The display will be around 5 to 5.2 inches but this has not been confirmed before. It is also not clear whether the device will feature a curved display similar to the LG G Flex and Samsung Galaxy Round.

Estimates suggest the Samsung will use at least 3,000mAh batteries for the S5. The Korean tech giant has also confirmed the introduction of bigger internal storage for its devices. The company plans on expanding memory up to 4GB. This is possible if the company wants to introduce the 64-bit processor according to analysts. Once Samsung introduces the 64-bit processor, it can match Apple's iPhone 5s.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 features the following Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors including 1080 x 1920 pixels, 5.0 inches (~441 ppi pixel density). It runs on Android OS, v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), upgradable to v4.3 (Jelly Bean), Exynos 5 Octa 5410, Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 and PowerVR SGX 544MP3.
