Fans are eagerly waiting for the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. It is expected to be released end of March or early April. Moreover, there are reports that the flagship will be released April 21 (April 22 in Australia) and pre-orders would start as early as April 10.
According to Ubergizmo, the Galaxy S8 smartphone is said to be incorporating an extra layer of safety via its facia; recognition feature. As regards the release date of the smartphone, most experts believe it to be April 21, though it may get delayed until April 28 (April 29 Australia). However, noted KGI Securities analyst Ming-Ching Kuo believes there won’t be any such delays. The facial recognition feature is being added because of speed and accuracy limitations in Iris Scanner. There might also be a Galaxy S8 Plus variant and another Exynos 8895 processor, apart from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip.
USA, China and Japan could be receiving the Snapdragon processor, whereas, other countries may get the Exynos chipset. Even though the exact sizes of the devices have not been confirmed, well-known tipster OnLeaks has created renders based on rumoured sizes. It is believed that the S8 will be skinnier and taller than Google Pixel and Huawei P10, but shorter than LG G6, writes CNET. The smartphone may come in seven colour variants, namely, silver, gold, bright or matte black, blue, orchid and pink.
The Galaxy S8 smartphone will be priced slightly higher than its predecessor. According to Tech Times, Samsung could be dropping the dual-camera setup due to cost and design issues. The device could be having a 6GB and 4GB RAM variant, and it will be region-specific. Samsung will also reportedly sell a special docking accessory separately. It will allow the buyer to access a desktop-like user interface. Various leaked images have confirmed the absence of Home button. The back panel of the device will have the rear camera, flash, fingerprint sensor, and heart rate sensor.
The Galaxy S8 smartphones could have a 12MP primary shooter and 8MP selfie shooter. The top bezel will have the iris scanner, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, infrared LED transmitter, front-facing camera and the receiver. The base model may have a 5.8-inch display, and the Plus model, a 6.2-inch display. The screen resolution will be 2,960 x 2,400 pixels. There will be minimum bezels around the screen.
