Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch, Samsung Note III Unveils in September
Following the iWatch patent in July, Samsung received a patent for its Galaxy Gear computing watch in the U.S.
When the Samsung Galaxy Note first launched, it felt like a scribble pad, computer, typewriter and camera all built into one neat package. The only difference was that it was from Samsung rather than Apple Inc. Since then Samsung Mobile anchored itself onto the Android platform with Samsung Galaxy S4 being the flaghship product for 2013 for the Korean firm.
Another wave of revolution was about to take place at the Samsung camp, as the eagerly awaited Samsung Galaxy Gear is slated to be released in less than a month. With Apple filing patents for the trademark iWatch in Japan, Mexico and elsewhere, it was no surprise that its competitors have jumped on the bandwagon.
At the time, there were rumours that competitors like Samsung, Microsoft and Google were also working on a wearable computing device such as a computer-aided watch.
Tech watchers said that Samsung Gear, a watch that is also a computing device, is slated for launch at Berlin's IFA consumer electronics show on September 4. Along with the iWatch rival, some said that Samsung will also announce its Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrival at the same event. The Samsung watch was designed to compete with the Apple iWatch, for which Apple has already filed a patent.
Others said that Samsung is geared to release both the Samsung smartwatch and the Galaxy Note 3 phablet on the same date. The patent for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch was reportedly filed last July at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Samsung received a trademark for the Samsung Galaxy Gear last week. Here's what a description about the Samsung smarwatch said in a related report by Agence France Presse: "Wearable digital electronic devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages; wearable electronic handheld devices in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle for the wireless receipt, storage and/or transmission of data and messages and for keeping track of or managing personal information; smartphones; tablet computers; portable computers."
