‘Scandal’ Season 4 Spoilers Episode 20: Quinn Says ‘Jake Is Dead’ [VIDEOS]
Is Jake Ballard really dead? He probably survived the savage attack on him but the opening scene and the promo of “Scandal” Season 4 episode 20, titled “First Lady Sings the Blues,” suggest that Jake is dead.
Russell is seen telling Rowan in the promo that Jake has been eliminated. And a woman’s voice can be heard saying, “Jake is dead, Jake is dead.” The voice is that of Quinn, as it is she who finds the blood soaked body of Jake on the conference table at Olivia Pope & Associates (OPA), according to the sneak peek.
In the previous episode, Olivia told Rowan that she is not stopping the case against B-613, as Jake, Huck and everyone who he has tortured want justice. This standing up against her father resulted in the attack on Jake.
Jake reached OPA’s office after getting a text from Olivia. But it was not Olivia but a man in mask who was waiting for him, making it clear that the text was a ruse to get Jake into the office. Olivia’s new man Russell turned out to be the attacker and one of Rowan’s men. He stabbed Jake multiple times in the gut.
After episode 19 ended, Scott Foley, who plays Jake, said on Twitter, “So, there it is. Thank you Twitter for tonight and all of the Thursday nights. It's such an honor.” Joshua Malina, who plays David Rosen, said “It has been a real pleasure working with” Foley. The latter replied, “Very kind. Especially from you.” Today, Foley shared on Twitter that it was tough shooting for episode 20, and it may be tough to watch, as well.
There is still hope that Jake is not dead, as the synopsis of the episode is not hinting at a tragedy. It says that the team taking down B-613 is in “serious danger and is forced to take drastic measure to take drastic measures to ensure their safety." The other storyline of “First Lady Sings the Blues” revolved around Mellie. She will find that the nation has turned against her. It is Cyrus who will come to her rescue, according to the synopsis.
