What do you think did it mean when Scarlett Johansson brought rumored boyfriend, Sean Penn to a wedding event?

For the unnamed source who spoke to PopEater.com, Scarlett had a ‘huge statement’ when she took 50-year-old Sean Penn to the wedding of actress, Reese Witherspoon to entertainment agent, Jim Toth.

“Turning up at a wedding with your boyfriend is definitely a huge statement, especially that wedding. What it's doing is announcing to the whole of Hollywood that they are serious, " the unidentified source was quoted as saying by PopEater.com.

Scarlett is one of the celebrity clients of Creative Artists Agency and directly handled by Reese’s second husband, Jim Toth.

But gracing the wedding at Witherspoon’s ranch estate in Ojai, California was a surprise for everyone, the source said of Scarlett who walked in at the ceremony taking with her her 50-year-old rumored boyfriend.

The source added, "Scarlett is Jim's client but no one, including the bride, knew she would have turned up with Sean Penn.”

Johansson and Penn were first rumored hooking up second week of February. In a separate report by IBTimes, the representative for the actress gave an immediate statement denying that the 26-year-old actress is romantically involved with the “Milk” actor.

Rumors had died for a while and the actress made a buzz again when she paraded the 83rd Academy Award red carpet, with a hunk date, named, Joe Machota.

But it turned out that the hunk date was the actress's publicist/ agent and the rumored blooming relationship between the two was soon set aside when the actress was again spotted having lunch with Sean Penn and a picture of the actress with her fee resting on Penn's lap have emerged on the web.

Another report filed by IBTimes followed the rumored couple when they made a short trip to Mexico.

"Scarlett is head over heels in love with Sean. She normally tries to hide away from public attention, but when she's with Sean she doesn't care," another source was quoted as saying by Exposay.com.

The "Iron Man" star filed for divorce from husband Ryan Reynolds late last year while Sean has been single since July 2010 when his 14-year marriage with Robin Wright was finalized for the last time.

Penn and Scarlett had reportedly dated as a couple when the two began working for humanitarian cause in Haiti.
