SDCC 2016: Marvel unveils first 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' footage at Comic-Con
The web-slinging warrior will be swinging into cinemas in July 2017
The first footage of "Spider-Man: Homecoming" was revealed Saturday at Hall H of San Diego Comic-Con. The movie is set to debut in July 2017.
Marvel teased fans at the pop-culture convention with an official concept artwork and a special footage which was exclusively screened at the event. The artwork depicted the masked web-slinging warrior in a brawl against The Vulture. It was posted on the official Spider-Man Twitter shortly.
The ilm's artwork and preview shown at the Comic Con are yet to be released publicly.
According to Hollywood Reporter, "Captain America: Civil War" actor Tom Holland and Jon Watts, director for "Cop War" and "Clown," discussed the upcoming remake at SDCC. They were joined by Marvel Studio president Kevin Feige, who credited Amy Pascal of Sony for her massive contribution in "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie series. Feige claimed that the 2012 reboot would not have been possible without her.
Tom will reprise his role as Spider-Man in the reboot. Disney star Zendaya was confirmed to play a major role in the movie. The "Shake It Up" performer described her character as "super dry and awkward" in the discussion with the Marvel staff at Comic-Con.
"Spider-Man has always been my favourite because he's always been the realest and the coolest," Zendaya said in an interview with MTV News. "He's a real kid. He's normal, and he's living his life and trying to discover and understand what it's like to be a human being growing up — while simultaneously saving the world."
The film will centre on Peter Parker's life as a teenage underdog who fights crime as Spider-Man. Director Watts said that the movie will be "a straight-up high-school movie."
"Spider-Man: Homecoming" began shooting in June. Marvel Studio and Sony are collaborating for the film, which is confirmed to be released on July 17, 2017.
