Australian actor Chris Hemsworth has revealed that he had to shed some Thor muscles to fit for his new role as a car racer in his upcoming film, Rush, where he takes on a role as James Hunt in the biopic, Formula 1 movie.

Speaking to Esquire magazine, Chris Hemsworth compared his role as mountain man in hit film, Thor to his upcoming biopic, Rush. In his new film, Chris plays the character of a Formula One driver.

"For that I had to add some muscle, which hasn't been all that hard so far. I like training just fine, thanks,” Chris said, adding "But to play a Formula One driver, I had to drop quite a bit of that. You know, slim it down.

In the interview for the magazine, the Aussie hunk also shared his experience the first time he saw a car race driver.

"First time I looked at a Formula One car in person, I just stared at the cockpit, figuring I'd never get in there. The drivers wear the whole car like a tight-fitting suit,” he noted.

This has however, helped him plan his new workout routine to sit well for his new role.

Liam Hemsworth’s older brother said, "So I just started training differently, shedding all that Thor. I've come to see size as just a kind of prop."

The Herald Sun also noted in the report how Chris revealed missing surfing. The Thor hunk is currently living in London with wife Elsa Pataky and their daughter, India. He chose London as his base while filming Rush and the Thor sequel.

He quipped: "I'd nearly always rather be surfing.”

As he wraps up his new film and the Thor sequel, there is no doubt fans will see him take off his shirt for the beach. The last time the actor had been photographed surfing was in April 2013 when he hit the beach with equally hot brother and Miley Cyrus boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth.

Rush is a “biography of Austrian Formula 1 champion driver Niki Lauda and the 1976 crash that almost claimed his life. Mere weeks after the accident, he got behind the wheel to challenge his British rival, James Hunt.”

Chris plays James Hunt. Joining him in the casts are Olivia Wilde (Suzy Miller); Natalie Dormer (Gemma); Daniel Bruhl (Niki Lauda) and Tom Wlashchiha (Harald Ertl). The film, set to be released on Sept 27, 2013, is directed by Ron Howard.
