'Shazam!' film to go for additional photography next month
The cast and crew of “Shazam!” will be heading back to Toronto next month. There will be three weeks of additional photography to put the final touches for the film before its release. No change in the release date has been announced.
According to a post by Production Weekly on Twitter, the cast and crew members of the film will be there in Toronto from Nov. 1 to the 18th for the additional photography. Readers should note that this is normal practice for big budget Hollywood films, and it’s rarely an indication that there are problems that need to be fixed.
Filming of the movie took place between January and May this year. Trailers of the film has also been released online. After the lacklustre response to movies with a darker tone from DC, expectations are high on the upcoming light-hearted fun superhero adventure flick.
The plot revolves around a 14-year-old foster kid who is chosen by an old wizard to inherit all his magical powers to transform into an adult superhero. His task is to help people and fight evil.
The film has been directed by David F. Sandberg, who is known for directing “Annabelle: Creations.” The screenplay has been written by Henry Gayden, who is known for writing the script of “Earth to Echo.”
The cast members of “Shazam!” include Zachary Levi in the titular role, Mark Strong (Dr. Thaddeus Sivana), Asher Angel (Billy Batson), Jack Dylan Grazer (Freddy Freeman), Djimon Hounsou (The Wizard), Faithe Herman (Darla Dudley), Grace Fulton (Mary Bromfield), Michelle Borth, Adam Brody, Ross Butler.
“Shazam!” is set to be released on April 4, 2019 in Australia, and on April 5, 2019 in the US and the UK. This is an origin story that explores how Billy gets his powers and how he learns to use them.
