Sia on The Ellen DeGeneres Show: Aussie singer performs 'Alive' with Maddie Ziegler, reveals why she covers her face with a wig [WATCH]
Ellen DeGeneres recently invited her good friend Sia to make a guest appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” During the interview, DeGeneres tried to convince Sia to take off her wig so that the viewers can see her face.
“You’re beautiful,” DeGeneres told Sia. DeGeneres, who has seen Sia’s face in private, wanted to know if the 39-year-old Australian singer and songwriter will reveal her face to the public.
Sia has confirmed that she will do it one day, but she is still building up to it. “I'll do it, I'm just working up to it, you know,” Sia responded during the interview.
Billboard reports that Sia decided to put on elaborate props and wigs to cover up her face whenever she steps out in public after gaining international recognition for her work years ago. DeGeneres also wanted Sia to explain why she does not like to show her face whenever she performs her songs.
“I don’t think people understand why,” DeGeneres shared. Sia has revealed that she does not show her face, even though there are already images of it on the Internet, in order to have a private life without photographers chasing her down.
With her face covered up, Sia explained to DeGeneres that she can go to Target and purchase a hose if she wants to or go by the side of the road if she cannot find a nearby restroom. “And nobody would be following me with a camera trying to get ‘the shot’,” Sia further added.
In the video interview shared on Tuesday, DeGeneres tried to unpin Sia’s wig during her guest appearance. However, the holiday music started to play, which meant it was time for the Christmas giveaway portion of the show.
Sia also treated the audience of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” with a performance of the single “Alive” from her forthcoming new album titled “This Is Acting” with young dancer Maddie Ziegler. In a Mirror report, Sia shared a story about the track “Alive,” which she wrote with “Hello” singer Adele.
“Alive” was supposed to be included in Adele’s new album titled “25,” but the single did not make the cut. Sia revealed to radio and TV host Ryan Seacrest that Adele agreed to pitch the single to Rihanna, but the 27-year-old English singer and songwriter wanted Sia to take her vocals off of the demo.
Sia claimed that Rihanna turned down the chance to record the track. However, Sia thinks that Rihanna singing “Alive” is “not really her” because the 27-year-old Barbadian singer is “a little more edgy.”
