Russell's directed film had won Best Picture, Best Actor all thanks to Bradley Cooper, Best Actress thanks to Jennifer Lawrence, Best Supporting Actor by Robert De Niro, Best Supporting Actress thanks to Jacki Weaver, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing by Jay Cassidy and Crispin Struthers. This is one good reason to get out and watch the film.
Another reason to watch "Silver Linings Playbook" is that it has Jennifer Lawrence - need one say more? Hollywood's "It" Girl who had been nominated for an Oscar award for her role as Ree in "Winter's Bone." Lawrence is also quite popular for playing "Girl on Fire", Katniss Everdeen of "The Hunger Games." After playing on character to the next quite flawlessly, Lawrence's character, Tiffany is one not to be missed.
Given he did win Best Actor, Bradley Cooper is also a third great reason to watch the film. However, the best part of the film is fans get to see Cooper show off his dancing moves. If that isn't a good reason, then nothing else would count.
Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper aren't the only Hollywood actors who made the film big. Thanks to Robert De Niro and his "personal" attachment to the film, "Silver Linings Playbook" made out to be a great success.
"De Niro had related deeply to the movie, telling Couric that he had witnessed a strong visceral reaction from the actor after reading the script," stated Director Russell.
"I thought he was having hay fever, then I realized he was having an emotional reaction and I sat there and watched Robert De Niro cry for 10 minutes and I said, 'Wow he's really connecting with this material and this would be beautiful thing if it could work out, because I think his heart would be there' and it is there," added Russell.
While some other Hollywood films portray the conventional and boring girl-meets-boy story, "Silver Linings Playbook" breaks through the norm to give viewers the tangible truth that even people with bipolar disorders or the like fall in love too.
"There's a recognition that mental illness is real and needs to be treated that way, with therapy and/or medication -- whatever works. But the feelings and behaviors involved aren't alien to any of us. The more we accept that, and the more we aren't ashamed or afraid, the better off we all will be," stated Huffington Post.
