‘The Simpsons Tapped Out’ Wild West update walkthrough: Tips on getting the prizes and beating the bandits
Close at the heels of Spring Cleaning in Springfield, a new event has come to “The Simpsons Tapped Out.” Dubbed as the Wild West, this introduces the Town Plaza and the exciting for gold in Springfield.
The event will be started by Grampa and his little magic trick. Players should keep Lisa, Homer, Apu and a few Springfielders free to accomplish short six-seconder jobs to set a good pace.
Three Acts, Three Finales
Developer Electronic Arts has been mixing up the patterns for rolling out prizes. What has not changed is the ever-present three-Act rollout of major prizes and new content.
For Act 1, players can win a total of nine batch of prizes, similar to the previous Casino Update event. Some major prizes worth getting are Gummy Joe, Stage Coach, Cowboy Homer, Bank and Top Chop Barber Shop and Wes Doober’s Rib Huts. Scattered between every major prize are different amounts of pickaxes and hats, which can be used at the General Store.
The General Store mimics the mechanics used for the Monorail Update. Long-time players will recognise the trade-in mechanic similar to how blueprints and bolts were exchanged at the Railyard. This time, the General Store is trading items like pickaxes and hats, and in exchange, players can get pre-specified prizes.
Prizes at the General Store can range from fences and rock formations (perfect for decorating the dirt patches surrounding the Town Plaza) to a hitched horse and a sign. More diligent players can stand a chance to win three donuts towards the end of Act 1 of “The Simpsons Tapped Out.”
There is also a tab in the event menu that says “Story Finales.” However, the prizes there are just the same as the ones in the Act 1 Prizes. But it does continue the story by completing a pretty Wild West picture.
Capturing the bandits, dropping Prospectors
EA has become more creative in the event NPCs that players will need to tap. Previously, “The Simpsons Tapped Out” players have enjoyed tapping on robber clowns, mutant blobs and gamblers. Now, bandits have arrived in Springfield to bring more currency materials.
What’s notable about bandits is that, when players tap on them, they don’t just disappear. They get roped Wild West style or explode before coughing up pickaxes, maps and hats. There are two types of bandits that can roam around Springfield. When tapped, they will either get roped and captured Wild West-style or explode as though they’ve stepped on a landmine. When they do, the bandits will cough up some event currencies, pickaxes, hats and Prospector drawings that can be dropped in friends’ towns.
As with previous events, players can visit towns and tap on the event NPCs, the bandits, to collect more loot. Each friend visit will still be limited to three actions.
Visiting friends will also entail dropping Prospectors. This is an old man with a pickaxe who is looking for potential gold. Similar to dropped NPCs from previous events—think the mutant blob and mutant corns—players can drop it in their friends’ towns for a chance to get more rewards together.
New notification icons and additions
Alongside the update, EA has also introduced some improvements in the game. The developer has introduced a couple of new notification icons that will help players to identify and classify the tasks for the characters.
There are a total of four icons to remember. A check mark in a green circle means that a character’s job has been completed. A quest that is still in progress will have two gears in a blue circle. Quests that are blocked because characters required need to be freed are marked with what looks like a red stop sign with a white slash mark. Finally, event-related tasks that are time limited will have the orange quest badge with an exclamation mark to signify the need to hurry and clear the task before it’s gone.
Following several teasers, “The Simpsons Tapped Out” has finally introduced two new staples for designing Springfield towns. In addition to green grass patches, concrete pavements and roads, players can now decorate their towns with patches of dirt and dirt roads. This matches perfectly with the look of the Wild West, so players can easily make their Wild West sections in their towns even more real.
In addition to the new dirt road and patches, there is also another new strip of land that runs from the water into Springfield, as confirmed by TSTO Addicts.
There are a lot of things worth checking out in “The Simpsons Tapped Out.” Make sure to finish all of the questlines to get all of the prizes in before Act 2 hits.
