Sony and PS4 Games: Developments for ‘H1Z1,’ ‘The Last of Us Remastered’ and ‘MotoGP 14’
Several PS4 and games from Sony are in development, and of all the upcoming games from Sony headquarters, there are three that take the cake in terms of the waiting game for fans.
First up is the "H1Z1," the post-apocalypse zombie game that's heading to the PC. No news yet of whether or not it will also make an appearance on the PS4, but that seems to be the least of its worries, as the Steam Early Access that's now out seems anything near completion.
Polygon has had a try of the "H1Z1" experience and comments that it's still on a "pre-alpha" stage, as you have the bare essentials that won't really let you live long in the game.
Mixing unbelievably aggravated and anger-management-issues-driven zombies that will attack you at the sound of an axe or a touch of torchlight and the lack of crafting support for weapons like bows and arrows is not really a game that you'd enjoy.

This may be where the comments, feedback and ideas from gamers could come in, as Sony Online Entertainment has opened a Reddit for fans to partake in. Ideas are already overflowing with suggestions for developments, like building ideas, zombie combat, animals in the game, and the like. It may not be much for now, but "H1Z1" is heading toward improvement. And hopefully PS4 gamers can enjoy this as well once the alpha and beta phases are over.
To Hell and Back: Developing The Last of Us Remastered
Ports and remastered versions of old games on the PS4 and Xbox One are welcomed by gamers not only for improved graphics, but also for the experience, if a gamer did not manage to get its hands on the predecessor consoles.
For instance, one of Sony's and Naughty Dog's biggest and most successful titles to date, "The Last of Us" has only seen being released on the PS3, but a remastered version is waiting to come out sometime this year.
This doesn't lessen the kind of work and effort that the Naughty Dog team has exerted for the PS4 version of the game. In an exclusive with Edge, creative director Neil Druckmann reveals that creating high PC-quality of "The Last of Us" is harder than pushing a button.
"We expected it to be Hell, and it was Hell. Just getting an image onscreen, even an inferior one with the shadows broken, lighting broken and with it crashing every 30 seconds... that took a long time. These engineers are some of the best in the industry and they optimised the game so much for the PS3's SPU specifically," said Druckmann to Edge.
This means that the team had to go back to high level and optimise it again for the PS4 this time--not an easy task at all. There is a lot of rebuilding involved, as well as working with a new hardware compared to the PS3.
When comparing the output of "The Last of Us" remastered for the PS4 and the original on the PS3, Druckmann remarks that it's like a DVD vs. Blu-ray comparison.
"It's not a totally brand-new experience, but when you're seeing the film, the clarity of the image is much closer to how the director and the team initially saw it," said Druckmann. "We're working on this re-release, but at the same time, we're working on two other brand-new experiences."
"MotoGP 14" Detailed by Developer
Driveclub may still be a few months away from releasing, but the PS4 is looking at another racing game, this time featuring motocross bikes on the racetrack.
"The experience on PS4 has been very powerful. Compared to the architecture of the PS43, this new console is much more similar to a PC so it's easier to develop on it," said Andrea Basilio, game director for Milestone, in an exclusive with Worlds Factory.
"The two versions (PC and PS4) are at the same level, in fact we can ensure 1080P on both the platforms with a minimum stable frame rate of 30FPS due to the large amount of bikes that race at the same time."
In addition to this, the developer has also confirmed that working with the PS4 has allowed for the team to take advantage of the special features, including Remote Play with the PS Vita, the DualShock 4 touchpad camera-change feature and the improved physics calculation for the game.
So far, "MotoGP 14" is only expected to release on the PS4 due to constraints, and sadly, you may not see the "MotoGP 14" title on the Xbox One at all.
