Sony Reveals Japan Prices for Windows 8 Devices, Adds Touchscreen to VAIO L, E14P and T13
In less than four weeks, Microsoft is set to launch Window 8, which would likely result in the web being flooded with prices of new PCs suited to the latest OS.
The first one would likely come from Sony VAIO's Japan branch, beginning with the Duo II slider PC, which is expected to go for about ¥150,000 ($1,930) when it launches in Japan on October 26th, on the same day of Windows 8's release. The model will come with a 1080p display, 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U, 128GB SSD, 4GB RAM and WiMAX.
Then there are three versions of the TAP 20 portable all-in-one which will range in price from about ¥140,000 ($1,800) to ¥180,000 ($2,310) by Nov 3. The main differences among the three are its CPU (1.8GHz Core i3-3217U, 1.7GHz Core i5-3317U or 1.9GHz Core i7-3517U) and RAM (4GB or 8GB), but all three will feature the same 20-inch 1,600 x 900 display and 1TB hard drive.
These devices will compete with other manufacturers which will use the same OS.
Sony VAIO T Series are known for its thin and light ultrabook with full featured connectivity which allows the user to connect easily and directly other devices such as desk monitors, projectors, and Ethernet without the need for mini or micro connectors. Its T-series has the Rapid Wake Eco battery feature, enhanced data security and superb audio quality.
The Sony VAIO T series with Rapid Wake Eco resumes from sleep mode in an instant, letting the user go back to work right away. Its resume time is 2 seconds or less, which provides better protection for data. The new sleep mode also uses much less battery power, thus extending the battery life.
Due to its design, it easily fits into a handbag or carrying case and the characteristic full-flat design with aluminum hairline finish adds a touch of elegance. For additional strength, the model has robust design and special side vents.
Its Intel Smart Response Technology in T-series uses a hybrid drive composed of a HDD and SSD that provide significantly faster data retrieval compared with HDD alone. The SSD acts as cache memory and because it can be accessed faster, data can be read at higher speeds. Further, the SSD consumes less power than HDD.
The VAOI T -series has USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and HDMI ports for connection convenience. WiFi, Bluetooth, memory stick, and SD cards are all supported.
Its HD web camera is powered by Exmor for PC. The camera produces high quality image for video-chat and teleconferencing. Its sound quality comes from the xLoud loudness enhancement feature. The enhancement engine boosts audio volume without sacrificing quality, delivering a big, loud sound for music, movies, TV, or any audio content from the PC speakers. The Clear Phase additional boosts it by performing audio correction for natural sound reproduction.
For touchpad adapted users, VAIO T-series allows the owner to use gestures such as drag, page back/forward, zoom in/out, and rotate clockwise/counter-clockwise to take full advantage of the versatile touchpad.
