Display, Exterior And Size

The Sony Xperia M2 features a 4.8-inch TFT display bundled with 540 x 960 pixels resolution, whereas the Xperia E3 comes with a 4.5-inch IPS display and 480 x 854 pixels resolution. In addition, the pixel densities of Xperia M2 and Xperia E3 stand at 229 ppi and 218 ppi, respectively.

Speaking of design, the Xperia M2 features a plastic body unlike the high-end Xperia handsets. The plastic usage helps in keeping the phone's weight in check. Both the handsets are powered by the same quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Cortex-A7 processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. In addition, the devices are backed by the same 1 GB of RAM.

While the Xperia E3 runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS, the M2 runs on Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS, which is upgradable to v4.4.2. As far as the memory goes, the Xperia E3 comes equipped with 4 GB of internal storage, whereas the M2 handset houses 8 GB of storage space. Also, both the smartphones support microSD card for expansion up to 32 GB.

Camera and Battery

The Sony Xperia E3 houses a 5 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash and a VGA snapper at the front. The Xperia M2, on the other hand, comes with a relatively better 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED flash and the same VGA shooter as the secondary camera for selfies.

On battery, the Sony Xperia M2 houses a 2,300 mAh unit, while the Xperia E3 houses a 2,330 mAh battery unit.
