Sony Xperia E5 confirmed, specs and features anticipated
Ahead of its release, Sony appears to have accidentally confirmed the existence of the much anticipated Xperia E5 in a Facebook post.
The leaked render of Sony’s upcoming entry-level Xperia E5, published on the company’s official Facebook page, contained the name of the smartphone as well. As of this writing, the post has been removed by Sony Mobile. GSM Arena, however, managed to get a copy of the image before it was deleted from Facebook. The leaked image shows both the front and back panels of the device.
As noted by Xperia Blog, Sony also teased the Xperia E5 handset on other social media channels including Twitter and Instagram, but pulled it off as well. Since the company has officially started posting teasers of the upcoming smartphone, we should expect it to be released soon.
Sony is yet to announce the Xperia E5 release date.
Xperia E5 specs (speculations, reports)
Last month, the GFXBench listing of the Sony F3311 device was expected to be the successor to the Sony Xperia E4. The benchmark databases revealed mid-range specifications which includes a 4.6-inch 720p display. Other listed Xperia E5 specs include a quad core MediaTek MT6735 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage.
The Sony Xperia E4 sports a 5-inch IPS LCD display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of inbuilt storage.
The GFXBench listed the smartphone with Android 6.0 Marshmallow onboard.
The rumoured Xperia E5 is also expected to house a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera, a major overhaul from the 5-megapixel main camera of its predecessor. The new Xperia E5 is expected to feature a 5-megapixel front shooter, as compared to the 2-megapixel selfie camera unit of the Xperia E4.
There is currently no information about the price and availability of the Sony Xperia E5.
