Recent reports claim that Sony is already working on the new external cameras for their Sony Xperia smartphone range. The rumoured camera accessory will be mounted on the Xperia devices with the magnets comparable to several devices on the market with a lens and built in image sensor.

According to the Sony Alpha Rumours, the first camera device will have a 1 inch Sony Exmor R 20.2 megapixel sensor and f/1.8 Carl Zeiss lens. The Sony external cameras will feature as well a personal battery and memory.

Additionally, the camera device will have the capability to upload the captured images to the Xperia smartphone through NFC and WiFi-Direct. The Sony smartphone itself will operate as the external camera's viewfinder.

Users can choose to use the Sony camera add-on as a standalone device. Photography enthusiasts are most likely the consumers who will purchase this interesting quality camera accessory despite the anticipated costly price.

Aside from the external cameras, Sony focuses as well on the upcoming Sony Xperia Honami with the 20MP camera. The Honami device is considered the latest sophisticated camera device of the Japanese company.

Though the Xperia Honami is not yet officially unveiled, tech Web site GSMArena recently leaked the device's features and specs. The Honami will reportedly feature a 5-inch screen display with 1080p resolution, 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 16GB internal storage capacity, 2GB of RAM and an Android Jelly Bean operating system.

The upcoming device will boast with the official IP57 certification comparable to the other Sony Xperia range such as the Xperia Z and the Xperia Z Ultra. It means the handset is officially rated as dustproof and waterproof at depths of up to one metre with the capability to survive under water for 30 minutes.

The Sony Xperia i1 Honami is expected to be officially unveiled at the 2013 IFA Expo in Berlin, Germany on September 4, 2013.
