Japanese electronics firm Sony recently introduced its latest smartphone Sony Xperia Z, which proved to be more powerful than the iPhone 5.

Sony unveiled its quad-core flagship phone at the recently concluded Consumer Electronics Show in Barcelona, Spain early this month. The device boasts 5-inch 1080p screen and other powerful specs such as 13MP camera, Jelly Bean OS and a quad core processor. Sony is hoping that its latest Android handset will give its high end rivals a run for their money.

Apple also released its supreme smartphone last September. The tech giant's iPhone 5 wowed critics at its media launch last September 12. iPhone 5 features a 4-inch screen, slightly bigger than earlier versions of Apple's device with 1136x640 pixel resolution, 4G/LTE connectivity, and iOS 6 mobile operating system.

Below is the comparison of some of the specs and features of the two devices.

Screen Display - iPhone 5 boasts its 4 inch screen display with 1280×720 resolution. The Sony Xperia Z sports a 5-inch Full HD screen display, which is the current trend among smartphones in the market. LG Nexus 4 and HTC Butterfly boast the same Full HD screen. Processor - iPhone 5 has a dual core A6 chip, which will go against 1.5GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor with 2GB of RAM.

Storage - The Sony Xperia Z has 16GB internal storage. Apple's smartphone is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants.

Operating System - The new smartphone from Sony comes with Androidv4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box. Meanwhile, iPhone 5 is running with iOS 6 mobile software.

Camera - One of the amazing features of the Sony Xperia Z is its 13 megapixel rear camera that beats iPhone 5's 8MP shooter.

Battery - The Sony Xperia Z has 2330 mAh battery while iPhone 5 promises up to 9 hours of battery life.

iPhone 5 is already available through various networks. There is no word yet from HTC as to when it will release the rumoured mobile phone. However, Sony Xperia Z will be released in March. The device is now available for pre-order in UK and will soon hit other continents such as US and Australia.
