Sony gears up for another edition of its Xperia line. This time reports point a sighting of the Sony Xperia Z1S. The device reportedly appeared on Sony's Web site, but it was taken down after a number of sources pointed it out. This got the market buzzing on whether Sony will be announcing the product soon. Previously, sources said Sony will announce the device during its Shanghai event but this did not materialise.

Despite Sony not announcing the device when it was expected, rumours continue to surface. The latest information is about a sighting of the device with with .EXIF data. The device was called the Sony D5503. The report claimed it was the same Xperia Z1S. It was called such according to the new flagship numbering scheme of Sony, sources added.

The .EXIF data hints a 14.2.A.0.204 firmware version. This is based on the Android 4.3, although there are no confirmations yet for that. As far as reports for Sony's new Xperia line reveal, the new Sony midrange phones will start with the D5xxx numbering scheme. The flagships, on the other hand, will be referred to by D6xxx.

Although Sony has not, so far, confirmed this, people can see it according to the company's product line this 2013. The 2013 models have followed a similar scheme, although they were denoted by the C prefix. For 2015, people expect Sony to go with the E prefix. Whereas some sources still think Sony will not release the Xperia Z1S soon, some are claiming the company will want to take advantage of the holiday rush.

The Sony Xperia Z1S is the U.S and UK version of the Sony Xperia Z1F which reportedly sports similar specs as the Xperia Z1 series. Features of the Xperia Z1F include powerful quad-core 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 20.1-MP "G Lens" camera, 16 GB built-in storage, 2 GB RAM, 2,300 mAh battery, Qi wireless charging and NFC. Going by its Asian counterpart's specs, consumers can expect similar specs for the Xperia Z1S as well. However, people will have to wait for Sony to make the official announcement and confirm the specs.

Nonetheless, the Sony Xpeira Z1S will be competing with some formidable opponents like the iPhone 5s and the Google Nexus 5 once it hit stores.
