Upcoming Sony Xperia Z2

Few days before the official announcement from Sony about the Xperia Z1 Honami smartphone at the IFA 2013 in Berlin, Germany, its upcoming successor for 2014 Xperia Z2 leaks out, exposing its technical specifications.

Sony Xperia Z2 is codenamed "Avatar" and has a model number C770X which leaked from one of the sources close to the Sony team according to Android Advices. Xperia Z2 Avatar features IGZO or Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide display screen which is characterised by smaller transistors, affecting the size of pixels.

IGZO display was developed in Japan and its technology makes the screen consume lower power compared to other types and touch panels are much less interfered making it more accurate and sensitive.

Xperia Z2 IGZO display screen has a size of 5.2 inches with TRILUMINOS technology and 500ppi density which is higher compared to HTC One's 468ppi. Aside from the new display, Xperia Z2 Avatar features the following technical specifications:

- Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor

- 3GB of RAM which currently found in Galaxy Note 3

- Android 4.4 KitKat OS

- Sony G Lens

- 4K video recording

- 20.7MP rear camera shooter

- 3200 mAh battery pack

Inspiration or Real?

Sony didn't comment on the Xperia Z2 Avatar leak and seems there are no ways to confirm if the device is simply an inspiration or currently being developed for 2014 match up. Sony managed to add several interesting things on their smartphone and Z2 Avatar may have the following:

- Water and dust resistance

- Shatter proof screen

- Scratch resistance

- Exmor RS camera with SmartShot compatibility

- X-Reality display engine

- BRAVIA engine for mobile

- Illumination bar

According to sources, Sony hasn't stopped working with newer Xperia smartphones and the company has already started developing the Z1 Honami successor, which would take several months from now.
