Grammy-winning British singer Adele has admitted that she used to seek the guidance of "the bottle" to write some of her songs from way back with the guidance of a bottle when she was younger.

In an interview posted by the Metro.co.uk, soulful singer Adele reveals that she used to drink a lot when she was younger so she can be "more honest" with her songs. "I used to have to lock myself away in my house, get pretty drunk and write a drunk diary - and that was the first time I could admit things to myself" claims the singer in an interview she did for "The Sun" as reported by Metro.

Adele's sophomore album release "21" continues to top charts all over the world six months after its release. The album's flagship single "Rolling in the Deep" nabbed a nomination for this year's MTV Video Music Awards for Best Female and Best Video.

"A drunk tongue is an honest one in my opinion and the next morning I would read it through with an awful hangover and, in the cold light of day, had to absorb my feelings about myself," adds the "Chasing Pavements" singer. In an interview she did for a top music magazine, the singer admitted that the album "21" was inspired by an intense relationship that absorbed her life for the time being. The album tells the whole story of the relationship, from the rocky situations and break-up phase to the "getting over" part.

When asked how she was able to let go of her booze demons, the singer said her maturing mindset helped her get through the rebellious phase. "When I was 18 or 19 I didn't regret anything, I was very much a teenager and thought I knew it all and that there was nothing else I could learn. I started realising my own flaws and my disappointments and I started regretting a lot of stuff. It was quite an awakening" says Adele in the same post.
