Spice Girls 20th anniversary concert tour: Victoria Beckham not joining group celebration
Victoria Beckham’s representative has confirmed that the designer will not be joining the group for their 20th anniversary concert tour. This news comes after it was initially reported that Posh Spice had agreed to perform on selected dates.
Beckham’s representative told TMZ that the designer has completely ruled out any reunion performance with Spice Girls. Posh Spice is reportedly done with the group since she has other matters to focus on, including her fashion empire and her family.
“[Victoria] has been very respectful about the fabulous time they had together in the past, however her focus is now very much her family and fashion business," Beckham’s representative said.
It’s unclear at the moment how fellow Spice Girls singers Melanie Janine Brown (Scary Spice) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) will react to this recent news. Mel B. had said in her interview on “The Meredith Vieira Show” that she’s been forcing the girls to perform. Baby Spice, meanwhile, reportedly convinced Beckham to join the group for their 20th anniversary concert tour.
Mel C. reportedly declined to perform if the 41-year-old designer doesn't join. A source told The Sun that she thinks it would be best if the original five members perform.
“This means good management, good tour promoters and good sponsorship to maximise revenue. To fulfill this Mel believes the band has to be the original five-piece and Victoria needs to be involved,” the source said.
The representatives’ confirmation that Beckham will not join Spice Girls for their 20th anniversary concert tour contradicts Closer’s report. A source told the publication earlier this week that Posh Spice had said that she will be performing with the girls but on selected dates.
It’s uncertain if Spice Girls will still push through with their 20th anniversary concert tour now that Beckham is officially out.
