'Spider-Man' director Jon Watts praises Tom Holland
‘Spider-Man’ director Jon Watts is quite confident about Tom Holland’s debut in Marvel universe as Spider-Man. In his recent discussion the director said that the actor has right acting chops for playing the web slinger.
“It feels like he’s the right age, he has the right level of enthusiasm and a little bit of confidence, but a lot of insecurity mixed into that," Watts said to Toronto Sun. "On top of nailing the character, he can also do a standing backflip.”
The director also revealed that he immediately agreed to direct “Spider-Man” reboot when he was offered the opportunity. He is also looking forward to tell the story in a unique way and plans to apply “his own limitations” to get the right story.
“Spider-Man” reboot is scheduled to be released in 2017. The film is currently in its pre-production stage. Holland will reportedly make his first appearance as Spider-Man in the upcoming film “Captain America: Civil War.” The actor is best known for playing the title role in Billy Elliot the Musical at the Victoria Palace Theatre, London. He also starred in the 2012 film “The Impossible.”
The actor has been preparing for his role of Spider-Man/ Peter Parker since months. He has been sharing photos while practicing acrobatic stunts on his Instagram page. According to iO9, Spider-Man is quite a gymnast and Holland is reportedly doing physical training to do justice to the role.
The official title and the plot synopsis of “Spider-Man” are being kept under the wraps. According to Marvel presided Kevin Feige, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein the film will have 1980s coming-of-age comedic feel. They told Entertianment Tonight that the film will show Parker as a real kid in high school.
Marisa Tomei is reportedly in talks to play Aunt May in the film. Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal are the producers.
