‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ production update: Action sequence to be filmed; minor explosions heard on set
An action sequence will reportedly be filmed soon on the set of “Star Wars: Episode 8.” A stunt double of one of the major characters is said to be travelling to Croatia to film her scenes.
[Spoiler alert]
Cast member Daisy Ridley (Rey) had previously said that she will not be involved in the filming that is set to take place at Dubrovnik. However, according to a report by Making Star Wars, a source from Dubrovnik has confirmed Ridley’s stunt double Chloe Bruce is travelling to Croatia.
The report speculates that while the stunt double films the action sequence in Dubrovnik, Ridley will film her scenes at Pinewood Studios. The actress is expected to film the “close-ups” for the scene in the studio. The set in Pinewood reportedly resemble the one in Dubrovnik. “Stick-involving” action scenes were reportedly being readied at the set.
Meanwhile, tarpaulin-covered props were being sent to Dominican Monastery. Neon lights along the stairs, “labyrinthically decorated ceiling” and some sort of an arched passageway are said to be featured on this set.
Security has been tightened around the “Star Wars: Episode 8” production set. The security personnel have taken special measures in order to ensure that drones do not invade the set and take pictures or videos. However, sounds of racing speeders, crash sounds and minor explosions were reportedly heard from the set.
The production crew is said to be using a helicopter to film the scenes, apart from a dolly camera and a car mounted camera. So far, no pictures showing the cast and crew filming scenes have leaked online.
“Star Wars: Episode 8” is being directed by Rian Johnson. The movie is slated to be released on Dec. 15, 2017 in Australia and the US. Rey will continue to be the main focus of the movie.
