'Star Wars: Episode 8': 'Who slaps my a--'? John Boyega addresses 'leaks'
Recently, a scene description of “Star Wars: Episode 8” leaked online. The scene involved John Boyega’s character Finn. The actor addressed the supposed leak in a recent interview and also talked about working with the first Asian cast member in the franchise Kelly Marie Tran.
The “leaked” scene description states that the First Order has kept the desertion of Finn a secret from all the other Stormtroopers and instead tells everyone that he has been promoted to the position of spy in the Resistance. So, when a Stormtrooper meets his old friend from the academy in the next movie; he slaps his butt and congratulates him on the promotion.
The soldier that Finn meets in the next movie is said to be a character played by Tom Hardy. The cameo appearance of the actor has so far not been confirmed by the producers.
Addressing the rumours, Boyega feigned ignorance when he spoke to Vulture. “Who slaps my a--? Wow! Did Tom say that,” the actor responded. When he was told that it is rumoured to be a cameo appearance of Hardy in “Star Wars: Episode 8,” just like Daniel Craig’s cameo in “The Force Awakens,” Boyega said that the next time he goes on set he would lift the Stormtrooper helmets and see if Hardy is in there.
Although the actor brushed aside the rumour by joking about it, he didn’t specifically refute it. Will Hardy really play a Stormtrooper in the next movie?
The movie will be introducing several new characters and Tran will be the first Asian actress to play a character in the movie franchise. Boyega said that he loved working with her and said that she was a “fantastic” person. The actor did not tease any details about what character she was going to play and said that it would be better if the actress herself talks about her character.
“Star Wars: Episode 8” is being directed by Rian Johnson and there have been several leaks from the movie in the past few weeks. It remains to be seen whether the plot leaks from the movie turn out to be as accurate as the ones for “The Force Awakens.”
