'Star Wars: Episode 9' filming reportedly wrapping in just seven months
Filming of “Star Wars: Episode 9” just started a few weeks back, but it will reportedly wrap by February. This makes the total filming to last seven months, if there is no hiatus in the middle. Meanwhile, Richard E. Grant shot down fan theories about him playing Grand Admiral Thrawn in the upcoming film.
Aug. 1 was announced as the first day of filming, with Director JJ Abrams sharing a picture from the production set, confirming the start of the filming. According to a report by GeeksWorldWide, the filming will be completed by February next year.
Very little is known about the plot and the new characters of the upcoming film. Speculation is rife among the fans about how the new trilogy will end, and at the same time connect all the dots from “The Force Awakens.”
One particular topic of interest among the fans at the moment is the character that Grant will play in the upcoming film. The actor has been confirmed as one of the cast members, but details about his character are currently being kept under wraps. When the actor liked a post on Twitter about the “Star Wars Rebels” character Grand Admiral Thrawn, some fans saw this as a hint that this is the character he will be playing.
In a recent interview with RadioTimes, when Grant was asked about the comparison some fans are making between him and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the actor said that he is not playing this character. He is not allowed to say anything about his character, as the film is under complete lockdown, which means the cast members aren’t allowed to tease anything.
More details about the plot and the new characters in “Star Wars: Episode 9” may surface in the coming weeks and months. The movie is set to be released on Dec. 20, 2019 in the US.
