'Star Wars: Episode 9' may return to a familiar planet
Filming of “Star wars: Episode 9” continues in Jordan. A fan recently passed through the filming location, and made a list of things that were seen on the set. That list has surfaced online, teasing some details. The following article contains minor spoilers.
The cast and crew are currently in Wadi Rum, a location that was previously used to film scenes related to the planet Jedha. According to a report by ComicBook.com, a fan who passed through the area said that it looks a lot like Jakku, the home planet of Rey (Daisy Ridley).
From the filming location it is clear that a desert planet will be featured in the upcoming film. It will be interesting to see if this is Jedha, Jakku, or a new planet altogether.
The fan apparently saw a lot of rigs that were supposed to depict landspeeders. One of these rigs looked a lot like Rey’s orange creamsicle speeder, which she used in Jakku in “The Force Awakens.” Ridley or another actress was also reportedly spotted on the set. But, this person wasn’t filming a scene. She was on a camel, surrounded by a police escort, getting a tour of the area.
The crew members are staying at this location in large tents and trailers. The props for the film are also supposedly being built here.
The cast and crew may have filmed some action scenes the next day. The fan who passed through the area was reportedly asked to take a different route because the production crew was using pyrotechnics in one of the locations.
The report notes that it is very likely that the planet being featured in the film is Jakku. Readers should note that Rey’s background has been subject to a lot of discussion, and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) has said that Rey’s parents died on Jakku and their bodies are buried there.
