'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' teaser trailer 'leak'; A New Order is rising
A video claiming to be a “leak” of the first teaser trailer of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has surfaced online. Although the dialogues in the low quality video seem authentic, some fans are not convinced.
The supposed teaser trailer video posted on YouTube begins with a shot of the fictitious galaxy in which the story is based. Since this is a teaser, there are no actual scenes featured. There is a voiceover in the video, which appears to be that of Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).
The voiceover talks about a New Order rising in the galaxy, and someone has to fight it. This is very similar to the first trailer of “The Force Awakens,” in which the menacing voiceover talks about an awakening in the Force on both the Dark side and the light. The new video also talks about the Dark side and ends with an evil laugh.
The voice-over seems very authentic, but some fans believe that this is not the official teaser trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” In a video posted on YouTube, Mike Zeroh suggests that although the video has been put together very well, it is a fake.
Mike explains that the transition to the logo of the movie seems a little off. The evil laugh towards the end of the teaser also feels wrong.
Perhaps the most important aspect of it being a fake is that the “leak” has happened too early. Director Rian Johnson and his team are currently working on putting together a trailer, which is scheduled to be released in April.
A trailer leak has happened in the past and is not unheard of, but it happening this early is very unlikely, Mike points out. It is possible to hear something or see a teaser close to the official launch, but it is too early for that at the moment.
The trailer will be officially launched at the Celebrations event scheduled to begin on April 13. The director, producers and the cast are also expected to reveal more details about the plot and the setting of the movie at that event.
Has the “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” teaser trailer leaked? Or is this an attempt by an eager fan to get some attention? The movie is set to be released on Dec. 15 in Australia. The plot is expected to reveal the back story of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Snoke.
