Director Steven Soderbergh and the star-studded cast of "Contagion" arrived for the New York premiere of this season's hottest biological thriller.

New York's Rose Theater was the venue for the city's premiere of them much-awaited Steven Soderbergh thriller "Contagion." The movie tells the story of a biological apocalypse caused by an air borne lethal virus that can kill a person in days.

Academy award-winning actresses Kate Winslet and Marion Cotillard stars as the scientists urging to find cure for the disease as Dr. Erin Mears and Dr. Leona Orantes. Lawrence Fishburne plays another scientist named Dr. Ellis Cheever, a key character to the story.

"The Bourne Identity" actor Matt Damon plays the lead role of Thomas Emhoff, with "Talented Mr. Ripley" co-star Jude Law as Alan Krumwiede. Gwyneth Paltrow stars as Beth Emhoff, one of the characters that caught the deadly virus whom doctors are trying to save.

Hollywood legend Michael Douglas arrived for the premiere as well, along with other cast members Chin Han, and actresses Jennifer Ehle and Sanaa Lathan. Unlike other biological thrillers with fiction-heavy plots, it was reported that Soderbergh sought the help of a group of scientific advisors, with support from the Disease Control and Prevention. Soderbergh even asked academic journalist Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a notable professor and neurosurgeon, to act for this film.
