For a steep price of $5,500, you can now order a handmade and beautifully crafted steampunk design laptop.

For several years, steam punk engineering has been enjoyed as a contemporary form of art. Its Victorian roots date back to the 1800s, and are popularly seen on movies such as Sherlock Holmes and A Series of Unfortunate Events. It has been incorporated in so many designs, including furniture, décor and now - computer hardware. Designer Richard Nagy has spent the past 5 years developing this one-of-a-kind steampunk laptop, complete with an antique key and a 'feather pen' to wind the machine on.

This design is so exquisite and elaborate that all steampunk fans would love to have this machine. Nagy makes this design by "stripping down" the laptop and customizing every single part, including the brass engravings on the keyboard and the functional buttons. The shell of the laptop features a transparent casing in a wood frame, with all the gold winding mechanisms and wheels visible. Nagy has made several steampunk laptop prototypes in the past, but this recent creation strikes as the most advanced and functional of them all.

According to the laptop's official website, the "new versions will be better and faster than (the) original prototype, featuring cutting-edge internal components capable of running any of today's games and other software". Nagy made the laptops not only to indulge in the interest towards steampunk design, but also to offer a truly unique portable and fully-functional laptop. If money is no object, those interested can own a steampunk laptop for a customization fee of $5,500.
