Strong iPhone 6 Plus Demand To Make Apple Produce More Phablet Units Than iPhone 6
Apple is planning to gradually improve the supply of iPhone 6 Plus phablet since there has been an immense demand for the device compared to the smaller iPhone 6. According to MacRumors, the demand for the phablet edition of iPhone 6 has been so high that it may account for up to 60% of total iPhone 6 shipments in the future.
According to PhoneArena, even though Apple released two handsets on Sept 9, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus phablet, the Cupertino company mainly focused on manufacturing and advertising the iPhone 6 more over the phablet version. PhoneArena further states that a research conducted on iPhone 6 sales by Mixpanel revealed that out of the 21 million of the new iPhone 6 handsets sold, 17 million accounted for the smaller iPhone 6.
The strong demand for the largest iPhone ever makes it almost impossible to find at the Apple stores across the U.S. When the preorders began on Sept 12, the iPhone 6 Plus quickly sold out. MacRumors claims that if you place an order for the iPhone 6 Plus now, customers will have to wait around there to four weeks to get their device.
There is also high demand for iPhone 6. PhoneArena claims it takes around 7 to 10 business days for new iPhone 6 orders to ship to the customers. The source adds that Apple is all set to reduce the production of iPhone 6 by 3 to 4 million and at the same increase the iPhone 6 Plus production.
Digitimes states that customers should not be expecting more iPhone 6 Plus units to hit the shelves so soon. Currently, manufacturers are falling short of iPhone 6 Plus parts. So, it would take some time for the iPhone 6 Plus production to improve.
Compared to the 4.7-inch display screen of iPhone 6 which supports 750 x 1,334 pixels resolution and a ppi of 326ppi, the iPhone 6 Plus comes with a huge display of 5.5-inch. It supports full HD resolution and offers a pixel density of 401 ppi. By manufacturing the iPhone 6 Plus, Apple has for the first time entered the phablet segment and it is also the very first handset from Apple to support full HD resolution.
