'Supergirl’ Update: Toyman joins list of villains to fight Superman’s cousin
Cousin of Superman, Supergirl, will be facing a slew of villains in the freshman season of “Supergirl.” The latest to join the expanding antagonist list is Toyman, the alter ego of Winslow Schott.
Executive producer of “Supergirl” Ali Adler dropped the name of Toyman at the recently concluded New York Comic Con. He joins previously announced villains such as Reactron (Chris Browning), Red Tornado (Iddo Goldberg) and Livewire (Brit Morgan).
Toyman and other villains of “Supergirl” will be wreaking havoc on the city in their own unique way, and Supergirl will be seen using her superpower abilities to save the city. Here are some details about the villains:
Winslow Schott is the real name of Toyman, and he is an enemy of Superman, He is depicted in the comics as a genius inventor who uses toy-themed gadgets to commit crime.
Ben Krull, aka Reactron, is a deadly adversary of Superman from Metropolis. He wears an armoured suit powered by nuclear energy. Krull has never been able to defeat his famous rival, and thus he seeks his revenge against Man of Steel by planning to kill his cousin, Supergirl.
And Dr T.O.Morrow, aka Red Tornado, has designed an advanced android, a robot with a human appearance, for the U.S. Army to fight crime. However, the android built to fight national enemies soon shuns its protector instinct and becomes a threat .
Brit Morgan’s Livewire, aka Leslie Willis, is a confident, abrasive and funny shock-jock who works for CatCo Media, the conglomerate owned by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart). An accident turns her into an enemy of the state.
With the show’s premiere date in a couple of weeks, Adler is excited about what they have created. "What's amazing for us is we get to find the alchemy [of the series]," he said. "Every episode is action, adventure, romance, comedy, and all pulled together."
Supergirl premieres on Monday, Oct. 26 at 8:30 p.m. on CBS in the U.S. Foxtel has grabbed the rights to telecast “Supergirl” on Fox 8 in Australia.
