The city of Chicago is not normal as it seems in "Supernatural" Season 9, Episode 20 titled "Bloodlines." Monster families of werewolves and shapeshifters rule the city and the Winchester brothers arrive to help a man named Ennis (Lucien Laviscount) who wants revenge on the creature that killed the woman he loves while he was proposing to her.

Spoiler alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "Supernatural" Season 9, Episode 20 titled "Bloodlines." Ennis planned to propose to his girlfriend at a fine restaurant but it was cut short when the host decided to entertain the shapeshifter Sal Lassiter (Bryce Johnson) and his minion that arrived.

Werewolf Julian Duval (Sean Faris) got in a conflict with Sal and in the middle of their brawl, a mysterious creature with claws arrived that attacked Sal. The shapeshifter managed to get out of the restaurant at the same time that Ennis and his girl left and the mysterious creature followed to kill Sal.

Unfortunately, the hooded creature with deadly claws also killed Ennis' girlfriend. Meanwhile, a shapeshifter college student named David Lassiter (Nathaniel Buzolic) received a phone call from his sister, Margo (Danielle Savre), breaking the bad news about their brother's death.

David rushes home to find out that Margo is determined to get revenge on Julian, the Lassiter family's nemesis. David thinks Julian did not kill Sal but Margo is still determined to start a monster war against the werewolves.

Meanwhile, Ennis is in a middle of an interrogation when hunters Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) arrive as FBI agents. The brothers listened first to the young man's story before telling him that monsters do not exist.

Ennis, who is still upset with his girlfriend's death, decided to take matters into his own hands and investigate the monster bar where the fight between the two creatures happened. A waiter cleaning the mess smelled Ennis and was ready to attack him but Dean arrived just in time to decapitate the supernatural creature.

Ennis started to research about Sal Lassiter and he got interrupted with the shapeshifter David who explained about the five monster families ruling Chicago. Then, Ennis shifted his research on werewolf Julian Duval and went to his place only to find the Winchester brothers there.

David reunited with his werewolf ex-girlfriend Violet, Julian's sister, but the mysterious creature appeared again attacking David and capturing Violet. Sam, Dean, Ennis and David used Violet's cell signal to track down her location.

The mysterious creature finally revealed himself to Violet and he is just a human being seeking revenge on the supernatural creature that killed his son. David tried to save Violet but the man with silver claws captured the shapeshifter as well.

The man started to hurt David as payback and this triggered Violet's transformation into a werewolf. She attacked the man but David managed to break free and make Violet calm before the werewolf kills the man.

When Sam, Dean and Ennis arrived at the scene, the man immediately recognized Ennis and apologized that his girl got killed. Ennis did not accept the man's apology, referred to him as a monster before killing him.

Sam and Dean wanted to continue their hunt in Chicago but a phone call from Castiel (Misha Collins) about Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) made them leave town. Sam told Ennis once again that he should not enter the world of a hunter but the young man still decided to become one in the end.

"Supernatural" Season 9 will continue with Episode 21 titled "King of the Damned" on Tuesday night, May 6, at 9 pm ET on the CW Network.
