Swedish royal family features in new documentary
The Swedish royal family has featured in a newly released documentary. SVT documented the royals up, close and personal in “The Year with the Royal Family” after shadowing them throughout the year 2015. The Swedish network brought royal fans details of the birth of Prince Nicolas, the charity work that all the members of the family did and discussed organisations they hold close to their hearts.
In the intimate interviews, the royals get candid about their projects, sharing childhood stories and updates on the little heirs to the Swedish throne. One of the biggest highlights for King Carl XVI Gustaf and his family last year, was the royal wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia, Hello reports. “It was a real fairytale wedding. We are very satisfied,” Sofia said in the hour-long documentary.
The documentary shows clips from the couple’s nuptials within the church, including the moment Carl received his beautiful bride down the aisle, as well as them leaving the church to the hymn “Joyful, Joyful.” Royal fans also got to glimpse the couple’s first dance. Talking about his first year of married life with his wife, Carl Philip said that it was “fantastic” and they were treated with lots of love and warmth.
Sofia talked about her charity Project Playground in South Africa that she and her sister set up in 2010. The charity helps strengthen children’s personal and social development through activities. The documentary also showed Princess Madeleine and her work to end trafficking.
She along with her mom Queen Silvia and daughter Princess Leonore visited Rome and met Pope Francis. She and her businessman husband Chris O’Neill appeared together in the chat show “Skavlan” in December and revealed that she is not too comfortable with the spotlight.
In the new documentary Chris revealed that he is wrapped around his daughter’s finger. The couple have two kids together Leonore, 22 months and Nicolas who is seven months.
It also tracked Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, heir to the throne. She and her husband Prince Daniel took up a series of engagements last year. The 38-yeaar-old princess is now pregnant with their second child. The couple also have a daughter Princess Estelle.
This year the Swedish royals are all set to welcome two kids into the family. Victoria is scheduled to give birth in March, while Sofia will follow in April.
