Taylor Swift responds to Kim Kardashian's Instagram posts about Kanye West’s ‘Famous’ lyrics
Swift reacts about "being falsely painted as a liar"
Kim Kardashian has used Instagram to prove that Kanye West sought Taylor Swift’s approval before releasing his latest hit song “Famous.”
The reality television star uploaded on the photo-and-video sharing site a series of 22 short videos that recorded her husband’s phone conversation with the pop diva. To recall, Swift’s representative earlier said she was “never made aware of the actual lyric” of West’s “Famous” song.
The contentious lyrics read: For all my Southside ni---- that know me best/ I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b---- famous (God damn) / I made that b---- famous
But on the video recordings, the voice on the other line, purportedly Swift’s, has indeed given West the go signal to use the contentious lyrics.
In the video, West reads the line that mentions her name in his song “Famous.”
“I think this is a really cool thing to have,” the Gold Digger rapper says about the lyrics. “I know, I mean it’s like a compliment,” the Shake It Off singer replies.
“What I give a f--- about is you as a person and as a friend. I want things that make you feel good. I don’t want to do rap that makes people feel bad,” West continues.
Swift then replies, “Go with whatever line you think is better. It’s obviously very tongue in cheek either way. And I really appreciate you telling me about it. That’s really nice."
Reality TV gone real
The West-Swift rift was the topic of the recent “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” episode aired over the weekend, wherein Kim tells her sister Khloe about setting the record straight.
“I never talk sh-- about anyone publicly, especially in interviews. But I was just like I had so had it. I just felt like I wanted to defend him in it because it’s like, she legitimately quote says, ‘As soon as I get on that Grammy red carpet I’m gonna tell all the press. Like I was in on it,’” Kim added.
Kim also took to Twitter her revelation. Kim has two children with West, North and Saint.
Hours later, Swift took to Twitter her defence.
"Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me 'that bitch' in his song? It doesn't exist because it never happened," the Bad Blood artist retaliated.
"He promised to play the song for me, but he never did. While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot 'approve' a song you haven't heard," Swift added.
With referrence to the couple, the pop diva said "being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination."
