Taylor Swift usually refrains from discussing her past relationships because she prefers to sing about them. But her recent interview with Ryan Adams turned out to be a bit different. The “Bad Blood” singer chose to talk about an ex-boyfriend with Adams. The 40-year-old "New York, New York" singer-songwriter also questioned the 25-year-old songstress if she has ever gotten an idea for one of her song's lyrics in her dreams. Plus, Swift mentions her fascination with Apple's knowledge navigator and intelligent personal assistant, Siri.

Swift told Adams in a GQ interview that the idea for her single "All You Had To Do Was Stay," was brought about by a dream featuring her ex-boyfriend. However, she did not give a specific name on who this particular ex is. In her dream, the ex-boyfriend showed up at her door and when she opened it, all that came out of her mouth was a high-pitched "Stay." That's where she got the idea for the chorus of the song.

Adams also discussed the art of songwriting with the “Love Story” singer. He said that he plays a Smiths record if he ever gets stuck while writing down some lyrics. The “Rock n Roll” singer revealed that the Smiths record works magically on him and “recharges” him in five minutes.

Adams re-recorded Swift's recently released album “1989.” They briefly discussed his version. Swift commented on Adams' heartbreaking take on the songs. She thought that his version of "All You Had to Do Was Stay" shed a different light on how she envisioned the song to be interpreted.

The country singer also revealed that her lyrical inspiration for “1989” were some John Hughes films. She said that because she was single at that time, she had to put herself in other people's perspectives to write songs about love, relationships, regrets, heartbreak, exes, etc. She also talked about using Siri lots of times to ask weird questions.

"I don't know how it works, but it's crazy. It's astonishing. You get really bored, you can ask it a bunch of stupid questions and it gives you back like, sassy answers," Swift revealed to Adams.

She proceeded to ask Siri about humpback whales and if they are native to the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans. Unfortunately, Siri's answer wasn't revealed. To end the interview with Swift, Adams thought it was appropriate to consult Siri one more time. But Siri replied that she's not available and that they need to connect to the Internet. Swift and Adams laughed about it, with the former saying that she's never there for them when they need her the most.

Swift recently appeared on the cover of GQ magazine. Her beachside photos were also released a few days back. Click here to see the other photos from the GQ shoot.
