‘Team Fortress 2’ Gets New ‘Gun Mettle’ Update From Valve
It may have taken a while, but Valve has announced a major new update for the company’s massively popular, free-to-play online shooter “Team Fortress 2.” The new “Team Fortress 2” update has been dubbed as the “Gun Mettle” update as it introduces a new three-month campaign, a brand new contract system, new weapons, new taunts to make fun of players and three new maps to explore.
According to Polygon, the new “Gun Mettle” campaign is a brand new three-month event that has players taking on new contracts that have a number of skill-based challenges that should test the mettle of any veteran “Team Fortress 2” player. Once completed, players will get a brand new weapon that can’t be purchased anywhere else, each with a random paint job to show how unique it is. These weapons are very rare and can be sold at a high price or traded with other players.
However, if fans want to participate in the “Gun Mettle” campaign, Valve has stated that players must pay $5.99 to be active in the aforementioned event. Those who purchase the campaign a month late will still be able to participate in the newly given contracts. However, the contracts will be unavailable to those who purchase the game in the last month of the campaign.
Players who manage to get any exclusive weapon from the campaign will be able to keep them after the three months expire. That being said, contracts will no longer be playable to those who were not able to complete them during the three months of the “Gun Mettle” campaign, so fans better participate in this event as quickly as possible.
While the “Gun Mettle” campaign has to be paid for, there are a number of free additions to the update. These include the new Powerhouse map along with three new community-made maps and even some community-made taunts, which should please any “TF 2” player.
“Team Fortress 2” is currently a free-to-play online shooter that can be purchased through Steam for free, with additional in-game purchases for those who want an advantage. Fans can also get the game through “The Orange Box,” which comes with “Half-Life 2” and its bonus episodes, along with the first “Portal” game.
