As rival telcos unveiled their new broadband pricing schemes, giant Telstra Corporation revealed on Monday new offerings that it hopes would continue to lure customers amidst the approaching roll out of the National Broadband Network (NBN).

Telstra said on Monday that it will start offering new service packages that the company stressed will give more premium to prospective subscribers.

Leading the pack is Telstra's 500 gigabytes (GB) fixed broadband connection, which the company said comes with a 24-month lock-in period for a monthly fee of $119.95.

Customers willing to pay extra $10 on top of the usual fee are set to enjoy hybrid fibre-coaxial (HFC) access that, according to Telstra, will speed up their internet access by 100 megabits (MB) per second.

Also, the original bundle fee, Telstra said, could be slashed to $89.95 if customers would opt to avail of a fixed-line service that would go with the 500GB package.

Along with the company's two new service packages, Telstra announced too data quota upgrades on its existing BigPond Mobile Broadband plans, which would kicked up allowed data processing of the plans' limit.

From the 400MB, 1GB, 3GB, 7GB and 12GB BigPond plans, Telstra said that current subscribers would get additional data access of 1GB, 4GB, 8GB and 15GB, respectively, all of which will be governed by the same 24-month contract on most Telstra services.

While price ranges will largely depend on the bundled products that customers would tick on with their packages, Telstra said price will hover between $39.95 each month at the entry level to the maximum of $99.95 each month for bigger data access.

Its new service and pricing revisions, Telstra said, precedes the launch of its long-term evolution (LTE) mobile broadband products, which the company said will be unveiled in the few weeks ahead and that experts said will be tagged with price levels almost similar to Telstra's existing mobile broadband services.

At the same time, the telco announced that it has yet to determine the price levels for the upcoming NBN services.
