The trauma that Miss Teen USA Cassidy Wolf faced as a result of an extortion attempt from a man who hacked her computer at home and threatened to release her nude photos may be over.

Jared James Abrahams, a 19-year-old man from Temecula, California, surrendered on Friday to agents at the FBI office on Orange County. He is facing extortion charges.

Although Jared is out on a $50,000 bail, a judged made sure he is confined in his family home by mandating him to wear a GPS monitor. His use of the home computer would be limited to only for schoolwork via a software to be installed that would monitor the PC's use.

Authorities said the accused knew Ms Wolf, who is of the same age and graduated from the Great Oak High School in Temecula.

According to the FBI, Mr Abrahams used a malicious software to remotely operate webcams to capture nude photos of seven women while they were changing clothes. Some of them are known personally to Mr Abrahams, while others he found through hacking their Facebook pages.

He admitted controlling 30 to 40 hacked PCs and extorting women. Mr Abrahams gained his knowledge of hacking as a freshman computer science major. His victims, besides Ms Wolf, include women from Southern California, Baltimore, Canada and Russia.

He allegedly threatened Ms Wolf with releasing her nude photos in the Internet, which could threaten her dream to become a model but could instead be transformed into a porn actress.

However, the beauty queen did not give in to his demands and instead requested the help of authorities in tracing and arresting the hacker.
