Tesla Model X review: First impressions by former CEO of Citrix Systems
Tesla Motors will start shipping the latest Model X cars in 2016. Meanwhile, Mark Templeton, the former CEO of Citrix Systems, who also happens to be a huge fan of Tesla, got a chance to drive an "early version" of the new car.
After driving the Model X for two months, Templeton has promptly written a review at EvAndMore Blog. According to him, the car is fabulous and he enjoyed driving it on the go. He apparently likes the Model X more than the Model S.
Speaking of Tesla in general, he says, the cars “have been consistently reliable and flawless.” In the first few paragraphs of the review, he talks about how the early model of the Model X got delivered to him and that how thrilled he was to drive the car.
He also touched upon the superchargers by saying, “Every Tesla owner you meet there has a fabulous set of stories to share.” The superchargers are apparently accessible across the city and he was able to get 350 mph charging at various stations.
As far as the overall experience goes, Templeton says, “It’s a sports car, a sedan, and an SUV.” This makes the Model X a perfect example of a multi-purpose car. He also noted the humongous storage space on this version and to be specific, he says the deep trunk can accommodate two 34-inch rolling luggage positioned next to each other.
The third row is apparently foldable and it exceeded his expectations when compared to other SUVs of similar size. When writing about the usability of seats, he says the under-seat space is phenomenal, which has been built taking passengers’ comfort into account. He goes on to say that the seats in Model X are the best he has seen in any vehicle with regard to “design, comfort and function.” He also noted that the middle row of seats tilt and slide easily.
Known for its speed, Templeton says, the Tesla Model X’s “smooth, continuous, multi-G acceleration” is a pure joy to ride. Meanwhile, he didn’t forget to laud the prominent “falcon wing” doors. The design of the falcon wings is such that it pauses while opening by adhering to the "failsafe approach" in order to avoid hitting anything or anybody around. Overall, it’s crystal clear that Templeton enjoyed every bit of the time spent with the new Tesla Model X.
Readers can check out the entire review, complete with photos and videos at EvAndMore Blog. Lastly, interested buyers can now reserve the Model X earmarked for release in the second half of 2016 via Tesla Motors.
