Psyonix is looking to join the season's festivities this month as the developer has officially dropped a new mode for hit vehicular soccer game, “Rocket League.” Aside from the new mode, Psyonix also released several new Christmas-themed items available for a limited time only, so players should act fast if they want to get their hands on them.

Since winter and the Christmas season is here, Psyonix took the effort to release a new mode for “Rocket League.” The new mode replaces the usual huge soccer ball and concrete/dirt-filled arena for a huge hockey puck and ice. The mode, aptly dubbed as Snow Day, was revealed to go live via a tweet by developer Psyonix. To access the new mode, players need only locate where the Mutator Mashup playlist is.

Not much will change when players try out the Snow Day mode as the game will play pretty much the same. The same mechanics and rules of regular “Rocket League” matches will apply to the Snow Day mode.

Aside from the Snow Day mode, players will also have a chance to get some Christmas-themed items as random dropped loot after match-ups. Playing any match now until Jan. 4 gives players a chance to nab the season-themed items which include:

  • "Xmas" Rocket Trail
  • "Blitzen" Topper
  • "Christmas Tree" Topper
  • "Sad Sapling" Topper
  • "Santa" Topper
  • "Candy Cane" Antenna
  • "Holiday Gift" Antenna

Gamespot reports that players don’t need to purchase any of the game’s DLC like the recently released DLC Chaos Run to access Snow Day or the Christmas-themed items. Since Mutators come as part of a free update, the Snow Day mode will be readily available free of charge.

Meanwhile, Xbox One owners will finally get their hands on “Rocket League” next February. Sadly, cross-platform multiplayers will not be one of the features of the game.
