Tim Tebow Feels Generous This Holiday Season, Pays Walmart Shoppers’ Layaway Bills
It is the season to be jolly and everyone is hoping to get a little present. For some people, Christmas came early when former National Football League, or NFL, quarterback Tim Tebow teamed up with "Good Morning America" to pay the layaway bills for Walmart shoppers on Dec. 7.
According to Yahoo News, shoppers were in shock and in joy when Tebow showed up and paid for the items that they had on layaway. "Good Morning America" is reportedly touring the U.S. to surprise the lucky people by paying their layaway bills.
One of the lucky people named Jasmine Nunes was in awe and complete surpise when Tebow came up to her on Walmart. Nunes had a layaway bill worth more than $200 for the items she got for her nephews and nieces this Christmas. The report said that Nunes' family is currently going through a hard time, so she was extremely happy when Tebow paid for her balance. Nunes hugged Tebow and thanked him for his kind deed.
Nunes later phoned her mom to tell her what happened. "Mom, you're never going to believe what just happened," Nunes said. "Tim Tebow just paid my layaway."
Another lucky shopper, Christina Figueiredo, also had her layaway bill worth $280 paid. Damara Jarrett's $701 layaway bill was also taken care of. Jarrett, who lost her car and is currently a full-time student, was in tears when her layaway account was paid. Jarrett reportedly got items for two small kids.
Tebow made his debut as a contributor on "Good Morning America" on his segment "Motivate Me Monday" on Sept. 15. While the former Heisman Trophy winner is still waiting for another chance to play in the NFL, he has concentrated on being a TV star in the meantime. Tebow's broadcasting contract still allows him to pursue a career in the NFL, in case a door opens. During his stint in the NFL, Tebow has played for the Denver Broncos, New York Jets and New England Patriots.
Tebow also works as a college football analyst for ESPN. He appears as a co-host on SEC Network's SEC Nation.
