While being interviewed on "Good Morning America" about his accent on the film "Cloud Atlas," acclaimed actor Tom Hanks committed a mistake by unintentionally saying the F-word. The Academy Award-winning actor himself looked really shocked as he covered his mouth and immediately apologized.

Eonline.com reports American journalist Elizabeth Vargas has urged Tom Hanks to say something using the accent in the film to which the actor willingly complied. Then in the middle of his inexplicable speech, Tom Hanks has dropped the F-word like a bomb that left Elizabeth Vargas shocked. "We are so sorry, America," Vargas immediately said.

"I'm sorry. I slipped into a brand of acting. I have never done that before," Hanks said looking remorseful. "I apologize to the kids in America that are watching this right now and let me say that the next time I'm on the show, there will be a seven-second delay," Hanks added. Afterwards, Tom Hanks jokingly blamed the hand-held microphone for the unpleasant incident. "Never give me a hand-held mic. I blame the staff. I blame the staff. Man, oh, man," Hanks said.

In another plea for forgiveness, Tom Hanks also posted a message of apology on his "Twitter" account. "For GMA, spesh kowtow for Lizzie V for WHAT DID I JUST SAY??? Oops! In character! Sorry! Hanx," the actor wrote.

However, the Parents Television Council (PTC) released a statement regarding what happened on the morning TV show:

"Once again, a morning news show has allowed the harshest profanity to be broadcast into every living room and breakfast table in the country. This is just another in a long, sad string of similar instances where all of the major network morning shows have permitted this inappropriate and offensive content. These cannot and must not be dismissed as mistakes, and it's time for the networks to step up, take responsibility for what they broadcast, and ensure that this never happens again," the statement from PTC said
