Tomb Raider, SimCity 5 & Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirrors of Fate: Top video releases of March 4-9
A comeback of a nineties favorite, an improved PC platform game, and a Nintendo DS exclusive release awaits gamers for the week of March 4 to 9 as the top three releases of the week keep the gaming action coming.
Tomb Raider
Lara Croft took a very long hiatus, one that most people assumed would be permanent, considering how the then-popular game suddenly disappeared without a trace.
But in reality, developer Crystal Dynamics has been gearing up for a makeover that would reboot the franchise into something that's simpler, more visually appealing, more action-packed, and basically the best that the Tomb Raider series has to offer, according to GQ-Magazine.
Character development through the paced plot, a more proportional character, emotional weight, and a more developed combat befitting of a comeback, it seems that the makeover is not just a way of coming back with another installment of a then-hit favourite. It's about creating something that is bent on changing its predecessor.
Tomb Raider hits PS 3 and Xbox 360 on March 5.
SimCity 5
SimCity gamers can look forward to the debut of the multiplayer mode for the newest SimCiity 5, slated for release on March 5.
According to Latinos Post, the newest SimCity will feature a smaller city this time, compared to past installments, a trade-off that is reportedly necessary so that this version will have a better run for more computer models.
"This is also the most expansive city game management yet where you can control a region that delivers true multi-city scale and play a single city or up to 16 cities at once each with different specializations," said an official statement as reported by Latinos Post.
Amazon also offers a $20 credit, as well as access to the beta and Limited Edition version of the SimCity for pre-orders, according to Hawtwired.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirrors of Fate
An exclusive Nintendo DS release, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirrors of Fate is slated to be a great title with beautiful 3D effects that packs a pretty good experience. It offers a great spin on combat titles and exploration games, one that's, so far, the best takes for the Castlevania series, according to Destructoid.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirrors of Fire is set to be released in the U.S. on March 5, UK on March 8, and Australia on March 9.
"It's been two years since the enormous success of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and with this next installment, we want to take the necessary time needed to give fans a handheld title unlike any other," Dave Cox, producer of the game, said to GameSpot.
