Online security threats are becoming more sophisticated, which forces various Web sites to up their security measures by imposing stricter login information guidelines. That includes requiring passwords with a capitalized letter, number, symbol and even additional information such as mother's maiden name or the name of a favorite middle school teacher. Some others even require changing passwords every 2 weeks or so.

But with the sheer number of sites that require login information, remembering them all can be mind-boggling. Thankfully, there are apps that can help by keeping all login information secure in one place. But a handful of them can also detect phising and hacking attempts, so users don't have to worry about them.

But one word of caution though from Information Week --- most, if not all of these apps, require users to remember one complex password. After all, forgetting this master password may mean no access to all data, which also means having to start all over again.

Mashable lists down some of these apps and their features, and here are the rundown of five password management apps:

1. Dashlane

Dashlane works by functioning as a "safe" for all passwords. It also has alerts against security threats, a digital wallet and automatic saves and screenshots for online purchases. Best of all, it uses auto logins so there are no toolbars.

Available in free and premium ($19.99 per year) versions, for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android.

2. LastPass

LastPass is a web application which features a one-click login for all accounts, local encryption, safe sharing for backup purposes and even a screen keyboard for logins.

It is available for free for Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome and Safari. A $1 per month premium version is also available to access the app in mobile devices such as iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows phones.

3. Norton Identity Safe

Made by antivirus company Norton, this free app for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android not only provides password management but also recognises frequently visited sites for autofill and gauges the safety of the site to be visited.

4. Roboform

Unlike most of the apps featured here, Roboform is more of a form-filling app which also has bookmark syncing and batch login abilities. It is available in free and desktop versions, which comes in one device ($29.95 for first device and $9.95 for the succeding ones) and Everywhere version ($9.95 for first year, $19.95 for succeeding years).

5. oneSafe

oneSafe is an iOS and Mac exclusive app which can sync login information across various devices via iCloud and import and export the same information. It also has a onePhoto feature to keep all photos and media in a safe place, and which also features an option to let media self-destruct after three unsuccessful logins.
