'Top Gear' Host Jeremy Clarkson Suspended After ‘Fracas’ With Producer
BBC has confirmed the suspension of "Top Gear" host Jeremy Clarkson following allegations of “fracas” with a show producer. The upcoming episodes of the current series will not be aired. The popular host, who is no stranger to controversies, is currently being investigated and his return to the show depends on the findings of this investigation.
Clarkson, 54, reportedly threw a punch at assistant producer Oison Tymon after discovering that no food had been laid out for him after a long day of filming at Newscastle, with co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, last week, according to The Independent. Tyson, 36, who has worked on the show for a decade and has helped produce over 75 episodes, has yet to comment on Clarkson's attack.
BBC has also confirmed that "Top Gear’s" next episode, which is set to feature Clarkson and his fellow presenters at a classic track day, would not be aired on Sunday. Also, the two remaining episodes with him as the presenter are expected to be scrapped. The outspoken host had received a final warning from BBC after a series of controversial statements from him. He was accused of racism during the show’s filming last year. Clarkson has not yet said anything on his suspension but he took to Twitter to joke about the films that could replace Sunday’s show.
Meanwhile, a petition to reinstate the broadcaster has already got a whooping 65,000 supporters since its creation. Created by right wing blogger Guido Fawkes on change.org, the petition reads, "We the undersigned petition the BBC to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson. Freedom to fracas. #BringBackClarkson."
