Toshiba to Release New Low-Cost Laptops in October
Just in time for the Christmas buying and spending season, Toshiba announced on Tuesday plans to offer a whole new range of affordable laptops and netbooks in October. A Toshiba laptop will be readily available to suit anybody's needs and budget. Prices range from $300 to $630.
Toshiba will release new laptops this October for the Toshiba Satellite C600, L700, L735D and P700 series ranging from 13.3-inches up to 17.3-inches.
The Satellite C600 series is the entry-level range of the new pack. Prices are pegged to start at $349 for the C600 series of laptops. Toshiba will offer a 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch size option for the C600 series, two sizes that are the most popular for laptops.
It intends to offer AMD and Intel chip options with the latest offerings from each makers, Fusion APUs for AMD and Pentium and Core i3 Sandy Bridge for Intel. Other miscellaneous features include up to 640GB of hard drive storage, up to 4GB of configurable DDR3 memory, two USB 2.0 ports, and DVD Super-Multi drives.
Students and customers looking for a good well enough laptop for home use are Toshiba's target customers for its Satellite L700 series. Screen size options include 13.3-, 14-, 15.6-, and 17.3-inches. It will have the same specifications as with the C600 Toshiba. Prices start at $455 for the Toshiba Satellite L700 series.
Meanwhile, the Toshiba Satellite L735D series is the re-branded L635D with updated internals. To be launched on October 2nd, the L735D is actually a Kid's PC. It has a design that's more optimized for messy and destructive children.
The Satellite P700 series is the group's top end model and is designed for the entertainment notebook market. It boasts entertainment extras like Harman/Kardon audio and an option for adding a Blu-ray optical drive.
Toshiba will include for Satellite P700 the top-tier Intel Core processors and will have it Intel Wireless Display enabled. Screen size options include 14-, 15.6-, and 17.3-inches for the P700 series. The laptop starts at $630.
The only netbook among the group is the Toshiba Mini MB505. The MB505 will offer the same clamshell design and easygrip finish that the current netbooks have. MB505 will be an Intel Atom powered netbook. Prices will start at $300 for the Toshiba Mini MB505.
Toshiba said all of these affordable machines will be on sale online and in retail stores starting October.
