Toy Story awarded Oscar for 2011 Oscars Best Animated Feature
Director Lee Unkrich accepted the award for 2011 Oscars Best Animated Feature for Toy Story 3
Pixar, a unit of Walt Disney Co. has won another trophy for this year’s Oscars Best Animated Feature for “Toy Story 3”, an additional to the list of numerous other Pixar films recognized for the same category.
Toy Story 3 defeated two other nominees for the categories, "How to Train Your Dragon," and the British-French co-production "The Illusionist."
Accepting the award during the 83rd Academy Award ceremony at Kodak Theater, Los Angeles is the film’s director, Lee Unkrich.
"Thank you to audiences all over the world who came out in historic numbers, and embraced a movie about talking toys that hopefully had something very human to say," Unkrich was quoted by Dean Goodman of Reuters in his acceptance speech at the ceremony.
The Oscar winning animated film has raked in an estimated $1.1 billion at the world wide box office last year and the third film in a series, said Reuters featuring a group of action figures and toy chest favorites.
The third series has featured voices of A-list stars, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Tom Hanks as Woody the cowboy.
Toy Story 3 is an additional to Pixar’s growing list of awarded animated films including, “Up” (2010), "WALL-E" (2009); "Ratatouille" (2008 ); "The Incredibles" (2005); and "Finding Nemo" (2004).
